• WordPress – free site for writing blogs and creating webpages. Excellent tools. Easy to learn. This blog is written and hosted on WordPress
• Google Earth – explore the world from your computer (you will need a fast processor to run this program)
• Firefox – Popular web browser
• Google Chrome - even better web browser
• Kompozer – Web Development application; like a scaled-down version of Dreamweaver
• Scratch – Designed and hosted by MIT; allows students to create their own games
• Picasa – Online space to upload and share photos
• Flickr – Another online space to upload and share photos; also has integration with WordPress
• Skype – Free calling via your computer to any other Skype user in the world; very low rates to call phones from your Skype account; also great for online chatting
• Audacity – a free program for editing music files
• Gimp - A free image-editing program, similar to Photoshop

• Typingweb.com – Great typing lessons, exercises, tests & games. Teachers and parents can monitor student progress easily
